Narrator : Last week Mrs Mills went to London. She does not know London very well, and she lost her way.
Narrator : Suddenly, she saw a man near a bus-stop. "I can ask him the way." She said to herself.
Narrator : "Excuse me," she said.
Narrator : "Can you tell me the way to King Street please?"
Narrator : The man smiled pleasantly. He did not understand English! He spoke German. He was a tourist.
Narrator : Then he put his hand into his pocket, and took out a phrase-book.
Narrator : He opened the book and found a phrase. He read the phrase slowly.
Narrator : "I am sorry," he said. "I do not speak English."

Again，又是一篇有趣的短文。当你留意到时态时，你会发现第一句就非常典型，上周（确定了过去时的故事背景）夫人去了 'went' 伦敦，但她并不熟悉伦敦（这里切回一般现在时 'does not know'，因为夫人不熟悉伦敦是个长期的、一般性的状况），她迷路了（这句话再次回到过去时 'lost'，因为这个迷路就是上周发生的。）
